SyncSpace Shared Whiteboard
CUSTOMER REVIEW
My first priority in an app was a virtual whiteboard. I selected this based on reviews of the android app. When I first tried it, I thought this was only a glorified Magna Doodle because I am a new Kindle user and couldn't figure out how to access the menus.
I usually turn to Amazon product reviews if I need help with a product, but I didn't see anything helpful here. The developer's tutorial on the website didn't help me at all. I looked at an iPad tutorial and the layout is not the same at all. From the reviews, I see I am not the only one who found this app is NOT intuitive. So, after some trial and error, I figured it out.
I hope this helps others, because once you get the hang of it, this is one power-packed app. That's why I give it five stars despite the rough start. It makes my Kindle Fire HD infinitely more useful. It's everything I need in a real-time virtual whiteboard.
Here's my little tutorial for other intuition-impaired users:
Tap the app open.
Create a doc by tapping the grey rectangle with the plus sign, or open a doc.
The basic toolbar appears.
Tap the pen icon, then tap the white dash at the opposite end of the toolbar where the home icon was.
This gives you a menu of pen options to select: Color, thickness, solid or dash. You can toggle this menu bar on or off using the white dash and gray square next to it. Your selections of color and line are marked by white dots.
To enter text, tap the T icon on the basic menu. Drag your finger around on the white space and a blue dotted line should appear; a cursor should appear when you release. You may need to repeat this a couple of times. When the cursor appears, tap near it and the keyboard should appear; again it may take a few tries.
To erase, tap the eraser, select the area (the shading will disappear when you release, then tap the trash can at the end of the basic toolbar.
To move the doc around the screen, use the crossed-arrow icon.
To get sync, email, delete doc, and doc list options, open the Kindle menu tab at the right side; then, select the menu tab from the Kindle toolbar. At the bottom of the screen you will see these options listed. Tap your choice and you get a menu. "Email" gives several options, depending on what other apps you have installed: Convert to PDF, Evernote, Facebook, and any other compatible apps will be listed along with Email. Syncing also has several options.
Because the app autosaves docs, you don't need to be afraid to hit the back arrow on the Kindle toolbar and just start over.
Hope this helps!
