Bunny Mania 2 HD
CUSTOMER REVIEW
********************************EDIT 2013-08-02*********************************
Bunny Mania 2 works on the Kindle again! Thanks Thanks very much to a quick response from the devs. Now both this last bug and the issue with the check licensing has been fixed, which is a big plus in my book.

********************************EDIT 2013-08-01*********************************
The review below is for the version of this game before today's update. As of this update, the game no longer runs properly on the Kindle Fire. When I go to open a level, there is a popup that says "Bunny Mania 2 has stopped". If it's not fixed soon, I will be forced to downgrade the rating. Devs, if you could fix this, that'd be great. I really do enjoy playing this game.

********************************END OF UPDATE***********************************
I find it very interesting to see a FAOTD with no previous reviews. It's like a hidden gem just waiting to be found, but it's also a little bit risky considering you're just going off of looks and permissions. However, I think this game has a good amount of potential.
First of all, the game concept is incredibly simple: Get the bunnies home and earn stars! You do this by giving the bunnies commands using the buttons on the bottom of the screen, such as walk, stop, and dig. In addition to those commands, there are four other buttons to note:
- Fast forward - double the speed of the bunnies (very useful for the impatient, as these bunnies are slow)
- Pause - pause the game
- Hints - You are given 10 base hints initially, and every three stars you earn gets you another hint to use.
- Lightning - Kills a bunny if it gets stuck for some reason
At the end of each level, you earn points for every bunny that successfully makes it to the bunny home. During the level, there are vegetables to be collected that can earn you extra points. If you get enough points, three stars are yours, and you get that extra hint in addition to unlocking more levels and, eventually, more worlds!
I've compressed my previous edits here because it was getting long and redundant. Here is a general list of patterns I've noticed for getting a certain number of stars per level, based on the experiences I've had while playing today:
- You get one star for getting most if not all of the bunnies to the home but don't get all the vegetables.
- You get two stars for collecting all the vegetables and a majority of the bunnies bunnies home.
- You get three stars for collecting all the vegetables and getting all of the bunnies home (or all but one or two, depending on how many bunnies there are in a level).
At the beginning of each level, you are given a short visual introduction of any new information concerning the current level you are on. This includes things like introducing new commands, showing you what a sign means, and giving you initial hints to get you on the right track. In addition, there is a more in-depth tutorial in the options menu, which gives you visual as well as written descriptions of everything.
Now, although this game is pretty fun and the bunnies are SO adorable (especially when they talk), I do have a couple of negatives to note:
1) File size. This game is a whopping 47Mb, which isn't too bad, considering there are 4 worlds of levels and the graphics are pretty good. However, it's worth mentioning that this will take a while to download, like a good 5 minutes for standard connection speeds.
2) Transitions. While the graphics are of decent quality, some parts of the game are a bit laggy. This includes scrolling on the tutorial in the options menu, and moving from menu to menu. In addition, the music loop transition is a little choppy (as in there is a short but noticeable gap between the end and beginning of a track).
So, in short, here's my star tally for this game:
+4 stars for the game itself. It's a very simple game and incredibly cute, but it just doesn't have that 5 star quality for me.
-1 star for the two negatives (1/2 star per negative)
+1 star for great tutorial and lack of unnecessary permissions
Total: 4/5 stars
I would definitely recommend this game to any and all bunny lovers!

Edit: It should also be noted that I'm playing this on a Kindle Fire HD 7".

Edit: There is a small bug in this game that I've discovered. I don't know if it's just my copy or just for the Kindle Fire users, but for some reason, when I go back to the main menu and then try to reaccess the game by hitting the play button, an error pops up stating that it failed to check the license and that I need to enable a network connection and restart the app. After clicking okay, the app closes. I'm not going to dock any stars from my review, as it's a predictable and avoidable error, and simply restarting the app without enabling a network connection fixes the problem so I can still play.
It was pointed out to me in a comment that this might just be an error with the Amazon licensing and not the application itself, which is a little better than what I was originally thinking.

Edit 08-01: The above bug appears to have been fixed in the most recent update. However, in the process it broke the game, as seen at the top.

Edit: Fixed a couple auto correct errors.
