Samsung's third generation of Galaxy Tab series is highly anticipated and for this price point phenomenal. I have been using Galaxy Tab 2 and I will compare and contrast here. I played around with review units of all sizes and I have since returned them. My reviews are unbiased and neutral! First, if you have not had any tablets before, Get THIS! Yes, Get this 7". It is ideal for plane trips, long journeys. I had used a 7" Tablet on a long journey to listen to songs and read epub books (Aldiko) and it was a very pleasant experience. 7" form factor is lightweight, compact and great. If you are a bit experienced and can afford it, I highly recommend the 8". In my opinion 8" is the maximum value for the money and features and hence I gave 8" a 5 star. I gave 7" a 4 star (but no means undermining it). I gave the 10" also a 4 star because of some strange spec `limitations'. Samsung has introduced 7", 8" and 10.1" of the Tab 3 series. They are entering all form factors. As I know they have something in 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10" lines. Woo.. All of the 7, 8, 10" Galaxy Tabs come in white and golden brown color. My preference is white color. Looks pretty! Let's start off with salient points of all of the Galaxy Tab 3 series. I will later compare with the previous Tab 2 model. 7-inch tablet: 1024 x 600, Marvell dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB built-in storage (ROM), a microSD card slot (up to 64 GB), Camera: 3MP rear-facing, 1.3MP front-facing and weighs 10.58 oz. (300 grams). Android 4.1.2 8-inch model: 1280 x 800, Exynos 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1.5GB ram, 16GB of built-in storage (ROM), a microSD slot (up to 64 GB), Camera: 5MP rear-facing, 1.3MP front-facing and weighs 10.9 oz. (309 grams) Android 4.2 10.1-inch model: 1280 x 800, Intel Atom 1.6GHz Z2560 dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, a 16GB built-in storage (ROM), a microSD slot (up to 64 GB), Camera: 3.2MP rear-facing, 1.3MP front-facing and weighs 17.99 oz. (510 grams). Android 4.2 I am not going into other details like accelerometer etc. as they are all standard these days, Audio support - AAC, AMR, MP3, OGG, WMA/ASF, 3GA/M4A, FLAC, WAV; MP3/MP4/Music Tones; Music Player; Ringtones, Polyphonic. Video support: AVI/DIVX, WMV/ASF, FLV, MKV, MP4/3GP, WEBM; Video Player; Video Streaming. Software is current of release date, and it is expected could be upgraded as next version Android 5 Key Lime Pie. (Currently targeted for Oct 2013). Key Lime Pie's one of the main touting points is compatibility to avoid fragmentation, so I can foresee, all of these models being able to upgrade if Google keeps their promise. The 7" has a physical home button so are others in the series. Also has capacitive Back and Menu buttons. Camera is a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for skype, and a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera. It is also equipped with an IR blaster so it will work as a universal remote on both your TV and cable box. Camera is only so and so, and I will not rely on it to produce outstanding photos. Weighs only 300 gm. 64 GB SD card is awesome! With prices plummeting for 64 GB cards, it is a great boon. Put all your music, books, photos on the SD card and you have a powerful computer in hand always! I personally use the 64 GB microSD card on my mobile devices. Get this mobileUltra (SanDisk 64GB Mobile Ultra MicroSDXC Class 6 Memory Card with SD Adapter - Retail Packaging. Galaxy Tab 2 is 345 grams, so Tab 3 is lighter by 45 grams. Processors are similar 1.2 GHz dual core in Tab 3 Vs 1 GHz dual core in Tab 2. Resolutions are same with Tab 2 1024 x 600 pixels (~170 ppi pixel density). Tab 3 supports up to 64 GB whereas Tab2 is 32 GB. Not a big deal unless you have tons of video/photo/ebooks/music you want to carry with you all the time. I use a mixture of on device storage + Google Music + box for my data needs. Battery is also same between Tab 2 and Tab 3 7" versions - Non-removable Li-Ion 4000 mAh battery. Both have Bluetooth 3.0. I cannot confirm still if Tab 3 7" supports OTG. I know for sure Tab 3 8" supports as I tested it. USB Host is one of the most undernoticed features of Androids and is in my opinion one of the best features compared to iPad lines. What this means you get a USB Host cable also otherwise called OTG (On the Go) cables and plug in your USB thumb drive or other USB devices and the device recognizes it. I have used it with Alfa AWUS036H for a wireless project with Android PCAP Capture from reputable Kismet wireless. Another much ignored feature is the TV-out (via MHL A/V link). Unfortunately the 7" does not support it whereas 8in and 10.1 in supports it. You can connect Galaxy devices to a TV to make it truly a fantastic computer if the device supports MHL. Throw in a Bluetooth keyboard and it is awesome. Leo Laporte's TwIT TV which is Internet based show has one full episode in Know How on covering this topic. GPS was spot on and I tried multiple GPS apps. It was bright outdoors (had to crank the brightness all the way up). I personally use Navigon from Garmin and have downloaded several apps. Finally, believe me, don't get mired in the spec game. 7" is equally capable as a 8in for `most' day to day apps. If you are reading books, browsing, listening to music, looking at photos 7" is more than enough. Samsung is creating markets for all form factors and I would consider this as an exploratory stage. Just like Ford or Toyota has cars in different shapes, sizes and price range, so are the tablet vendors now. Remember the laptop wars, 10", 12" 13", 15, 17 and even some 19" if I remember right few years ago. We used to debate endlessly which laptop sizes are better, which has better speakers and so on. The time has come to fight it out for tablets! I tried following apps and they just worked awesome. A tablet is only as good as the apps you have and how productive it makes you. It's almost like the camera/lens analogy in the DSLR space. What good it is to have a great DSLR body if you have no good lens? Same with Tablet body and apps you have. WolframAlpha (I can go on for hours praising this. This is a truly genius app powered by hundreds of supercomputers in the background. Wolfram is a computational genius). Well worth the $3 price. Withings HealthMate. (another remarkable app great UI/UX). I am getting the Pulse device as soon as it hit stores. There are several customization options for the alarm function, including a calendar feature to set which time zone you will be using on a particular date. The coolest thing about the app is the interactive the map and globe features at the bottom of the display that show which clock you've selected on either a two dimensional map or a three dimensional globe. The widgets are also worth noting. You can display two clocks at once on your shortcut screen in either analog or digital mode. I can see this coming in handy for when I am traveling to remind me to check the time back at home before I call to make sure I'm not waking someone up at 3am (sometimes I forget to do my "time zone math"). This probably won't replace my stock clock app with which I have grown accustomed, but I definitely plan to use the widget next time I travel out of the country.</div>

So wandering around pyramids and tombs avoiding curses and mummies is what my reading has all been about recently. LOL This game has a great sense of humor, and a LOT of playability. And it is definitely NOT the frequent board or arcade style entertainment that many of these apps amount to, even the good ones. This game has a lot of variety as you explore and find clues, helpful items, and solve puzzles. And there is plenty of challenge as you are hunted by a mummy ... so there is a bit of trepidation each time you enter a new room! My first time into the game, the mummy got me pretty quickly. The next time I decided to head in a different direction. ;-) One caution, when you take a look at the Help/Information screen, scroll the screen up to find the Back button that returns you to the main menu. There is a lot of play here, and a lot of interesting puzzles. I played this on a Kindle Fire HD 8.9 with no in-game issues. Also, there are no intrusive app permissions. Highly recommended.</div>

And like Mahjong solitaire, only two matching tiles can be removed at a time. HOWEVER, here is the twist: Two tiles can only be removed if they can be connected by up to three horizontal or vertical lines which pass ONLY through empty spaces. The game is over if future moves are not possible and tiles are left on the board, or the player successfully removes all the tiles (like Mahjong solitaire) . This implementation of the game scales really well on all of my devices that I do have. From a small phone screen to a Tegra2 tablet (10"). The game requests internet permissions but I checked, it ONLY uses it for it's online leader boards. NO shenanigans here. AND... it's OPT-IN (yay!). If you never "sign up" for online leader boards, this game will leave you alone and NOT use the network socket. That, friends, is awesome. I have to deduct one star though. The timer. Please, no, don't make a relaxing game stressful by putting a clock on it IF I don't want it there. There are already ways to lose. I don't want to be reminded that I am "too" relaxed to finish this game in some "record time". I don't care about that. I just want to relax and enjoy the game. Want that fifth star from me? Make the timer optional. Otherwise, this game is quite fun! NO third party addons, no adware, spyware or analytics. Just a very good game with only that one annoyance, but to me it's a big enough annoyance to dock one star. Since I like this game enough, it will stay on my device. If it gets updated, I will update my review to five stars if the clock becomes optional. THANK YOU, Amazon and smilkobuta (the developer) for a very good, enjoyable puzzle game that offers a twist on the "usual" Mahjong solitaire and especially thank you for featuring a game that is safe to install on any device, including one used by small children.</div>

Based on positive reviews I decided to give Plague Inc. a try, and after downloading it I played for about 5 hours nonstop. If you can get past the creepy concept that you're trying to wipe out humanity, (which, c'mon, you can do it, it's just a game) this game hits a very sweet spot in that it's easy to learn, but has plenty of depth to add variety to each game. Plus, there are 5 (or more?) plague types. You start with Bacterial, then once you win a game on Normal difficulty you unlock Viral. I haven't beaten Viral yet because my hosts die before the infection can spread! I like that - it's this sort of detail that can make or break a game. Now, you can spend a bunch more money to unlock things, but the game says you can unlock everything just by playing. I think it would cost something close to $20 to instantly buy everything. I DID pay an extra $.99 to unlock a gene (or whatever) where I get extra DNA when popping a blue "cure" bubble. Later in a game when the DNA is hard to come by, this has been helpful - I think it's 2-3 points per bubble, so it's not like it makes the game too easy, just helps a little bit. Anyway, if you're looking for something with more depth, this game is a ton of fun. I'm going to keep an eye on this developer.</div>

What business does a PAID GAME have mining my personal data to hand to advertisers, or track my FINE location (or track my location at ALL), or attach itself to Google's push notifications engine, or open network sockets and use MY BANDWIDTH however it likes, OR collect my personal information and send it to the multitude of companies I listed above WITHOUT TELLING ME and WITHOUT MY OPTING IN?? I do not care if this app displays ads or not.. it is collecting and sending our data in the most scumbag of ways. It is clear to me that this "game" is nothing more than a carrier for as much adware and spyware and tracking and marketing analysis and analytics garbage as they could possibly cram into it. This app is sewage in digital form. Please, please... do not install this. do not allow it on your device. Send this developer a message that we will not tolerate this. Amazon, please, I ask you as a dedicated long time customer and reviewer, please: please remove this app as FAOTD. It's a mistake. This doesn't "feature" anything but trouble and I would beg of you to please, remove this and let your customers have a FAOTD that is safe and has real value, one that showcases a good developer (which is the idea of the FAOTD program, no?) that helps the Android platform shine. Thank you. P.S. Their privacy policy reads like a "here is how we plan to waterboard your device! WE WILL MAKE IT TALK!" It's pretty hilarious.</div>

I couldn't put it down until I finished it. You really win this game with your imagination. The game starts you off with a goal like cross this gap. You then need to type in an item to "spawn" to complete the objective. It can be a bridge, jet pack, or a helicopter. The choice is yours, and there lies the charm. In this version they take it another level. Adjectives. It doesn't sound like much, but the ability to make a micro RC helicopter, a string, and a dynamite leads to some fun times. The game itself is very good in length. There is plenty to do, and even a sandbox mode accessible right from the start. Future updates, will also be adding more maps to play. The gameplay, polish, charm, and openness to the game is enough to warrant a purchase. This isn't one of those gimmicky tablet games. This is the reason why we play games. 5/5 Enjoy!</div>
